Five Must-Read Books On Blogging to Kick Off 2019

Five Must-Read Books On Blogging to Kick Off 2019

The one thing I’ve quickly learned as a beginning blogger is that it is not nearly as straightforward of a side gig as I had hoped. You know, I’m ready to side gig my way out of these student loans, right now! But blogging is going to take a lot of time!

Which is why every blogger needs a “must-read” list of books to begin 2019.

There, I said it! And, after reading article after article from sooooo many bloggers, I’ve learned a few things.

  1. Bloggers that earn significant income are no longer blogging as a side hustle. But, every blogger starts somewhere, and it is perfectly fine, and even preferable, to start slow and learn to earn extra income for life needs.
  2. Bloggers love to share what they learned and what has worked well for them — the articles and free courses are limitless.
  3. Many bloggers write books that are readily available on Amazon. These are beneficial when learning to blog (or anything else).

My Must-Read Book Recommendations

Have you noticed how many books on blogging are available on Amazon? So, I decided to start checking them out and share my list of favorites with you. These books will help you kick off 2019 with strategic blogging goals.

Book #1: General Blog Information

The Essential Habits of 6-Figure Bloggers: Secrets of 17 Successful Bloggers You Can Use to Build a Six-Figure Online Business by Sally Miller

Review: I loved Miller’s book. It was well-written, had a consistent style so that it was quick and easy to read. In the book, she introduced three keys to success:

  • Act with Purpose,
  • Create Systems for Success
  • Believe in Yourself

She interviewed 17 bloggers and demonstrated how each person accomplished their goals by pursuing these keys for success. And, one thing is evident in this book, successful blogging looks different for every person and always requires hard work.

Book #2: Pinterest Marketing Strategy

Pinterest Strategy: How To Leverage the 2nd Most Powerful Search Engine to Build Your Email List, Make More Sales, & Establish Your Niche by Kerrie Legend

Summary: First, Legend teaches her readers the essential steps in creating a blog. Then, she teaches her Pinterest Strategy and, wow, I learned so much! After reading her book, I quickly realized that Pinterest is a must in building business and Tailwind worth every single penny! I’ve re-read this book more than once, picking up new tips and implementing them into my blogging goals each time. You will not regret this book purchase at all.

Book #3: SEO Strategy for Blog

SEO 2019: Learn Search Engine Optimization With Smart Internet Marketing Strategies by Adam Clark

Summary: SEO techniques are highly important to move a blog up on the search rankings. And, as a beginner blogging, I think SEO is challenging! Clarke teaches the basics of SEO so that a beginner will understand and utilize his techniques. I appreciate that Clarke explores Google’s search engine process with his readers so that bloggers understand why a technique is vitally important. At the end of the book, Clarke offers a “Bonus 50 point SEO Checklist PDF” – it’s GOLD!

Book #4: Monetize Your Blog

Make Money Blogging: Proven Strategies to Make Money Online While You Work From Home by Joseph Hogue

Summary: May I just say that this book is absolutely JAMMED PACKED with useful information to monetize your blog. From affiliate marketing to eBooks to downloadables, Hogue offers a clear, direct strategy of success. Not only that, he provides multiple website resources for each strategy. Y’all buy this book and read it each time you plan to monetize. There is almost everything that you need in this one book!

Book #5: General Blog Information

How To Blog For Profit: Without Selling Your Soul by Ruth Soukup

Summary: This book is chock full of useful information. For example, Chapter 2 describes the process of brainstorming possible blogs, creating an editorial calendar, and planning ahead. Soukup then details the process of creating killer post content, presenting it well, organizing the blog (I’ve got a lot of work to do with this one!), building email lists, affiliate marketing, and the list goes on. I have no doubt why this book is a top seller. It is another example of a book that I will refer to often in this blogging journey.

Helpful Hint: Amazon Kindle Editions

Do you see a book that you like and want to start reading it immediately? I found them on Amazon Kindle. Also, I always search Kindle Unlimited for books before I purchase, just in case they are listed for free. And then, after reading the book, I buy the ones I love, like these five books!

Join the Blogging Journey With Me

My family decided to pursue their interests and turn them into side gigs to create income for all the things we want. We want to share those adventures with you!

My daughter made handmade cards and sold them to help fund a band trip to Disney. Next, she plans to launch a blog/YouTube channel focused on handlettering, crafts, and downloadables.

My son wants to be the next YouTube star.

My husband is responsible for buying all of the electronics (and other things) and he plans to share his research with you so that you can find great deals for your budding side-gig kids.

Of course, all of these things need a web presence, which is why I launched Family Side Gigs. Would you like this page, share on your social networks, and join my email list? I invite you to join this journey with us, by following this blog. By the way, all the information that you need to start your own blog is right here. Would you join the blogging journey with me?
